- The Zuni Indian Health Services speaks about the recent spike in Covid cases and answer some commonly asked questions. The graph below shows the positivity rate at the hospital.Updated Guidance: The updated Respiratory Virus Guidance recommends that people stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after both their symptoms are getting better overall, and they have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). After time at home, away from others is over, spend the next 5 days wearing a mask and taking more steps for cleaner air and increasing hand hygiene. Very few people are getting seriously ill from COVID-19, and we have better tools to fight serious illness. Unfortunately, we no longer have free COVID home test kits to distribute to the community. Shumak’olo:wa Health Center has shared that they do. Vaccines have cut the risk of COVID in half. Paxlovid cuts the risk of hospitalization by over half and the risk of death by even more (75%). You have access to these at our health center. https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/guidance/faq.html
